The process starts with identifying underlying medical issues that can be causing weight changes. These medical conditions include thyroid issues, hormonal imbalances, cancer, depression, anxiety, pain, Chrohn’s disease, Ulcerative colitis, and metabolism disorders. Working with an ND for weight management allows for a proper diagnosis if there is an underlying medical condition. This could be the reason you are not able to gain or lose weight. If there is a medical condition present, your treatment starts with treating it. You will be amazed how quickly you will be able to manage your weight.
Not everyone will have a medical condition causing weight loss or weight gain. People who do not have an underlying disease find it just as hard to manage their weight. The second part of this program is diet and lifestyle counselling. This is where most people struggle the most. Lifestyle and diet changes seem small but make the biggest impact on your health and weight. Lifestyle and diet changes are also the hardest to maintain. There is no one size fits all diet or cleanse that will make you lose weight and keep it off. These changes will be for the rest of your life. This program offers a lot of support during this stage. The hardest part is getting through the first month with diet and lifestyle changes. Once it is incorporated into your routine it becomes easier.
The third and final stage is maintenance. It is easy to fall back into old routines after you stop having regular appointments. This stage keeps you accountable and makes sure you are progressing as desired. Short 15 min follow ups are available in person or through skype once every 1-2 months for the first year, and progressively getting farther apart as time passes.
This program is challenging. I will be here for you every step of the way. My patients’ success is what I care about the most. Here is what this program typically looks like in terms of appointments.
